Mark of unrecognizable character
The English Romanization of authors’, books’, and lists’ are based on the McCune-Reischauer romanization. It has a difference as stated in the below for spacing.

Principle of the marking for the unusual letter
In the case of the Chinese characters which is not supplied by the Unicode, it is recorded by dividing Chinese characters after tieing them through [ ]. If the transferer exists, it was substituted as the transferer instead of the dividing Chinese characters.
The method of dividing Chinese characters is stated as below.

Mark of unrecognizable character
In case of unidentified letters according to the status of original text, substituted �(U+FFFD), and in case of omitted letters, substituted □ (U+25A1).
