The author investigates the dignity of temple fraternities in late Chosŏn(朝鮮) period collecting materials in general and analyzing these. For this purpose, author examines the social background of temple fraternities flourishing and formation process. And the author classifies the type of temple fraternities investigating various literatures and Buddhism historical books, inscriptions remained in temples and reviews forming and operating organization of members.
